Sewer Line Repair & Replacement
Northern Virginia Sewer Line Professionals
If you have experienced backed up toilets and drains in your home, flooding in your basement, or foul-smelling water in the lowest drain inside your home, you may need to have your sewer line repaired or replaced. LC Builders specializes in providing reliable sewer line services in Northern Virginia. There are a variety of reasons your sewer lines are damaged and we can help you determine why.
You may need to repair your sewer line due to:
- Root intrusion
- Broken or cracked pipes
- Offset or collapsed pipes
- Corroded pipes
- Bellied pipes
- Leaking joints
The Typical Lifespan of Drain Line Piping
How well you care for and maintain your pipes affects the lifespan, as well as whether or not your home has hard water. If your home is 60 years or older, a yearly inspection of your piping is recommended. To determine the condition of your sewer lines, speak with our technicians today!
30 – 80 Years for Cast Iron
If there is a minor problem with your cast iron pipe (the pipe still looks to be in good condition), the problem is usually fixed with a spot repair instead of a full replacement. You may need a full replacement if the cast iron pipe is deteriorated.
20 – 50 Years for Terracotta, Orangeburg, or Clay
If you have any problem with terracotta, orangeburg, or clay pipe, you need a full replacement. If you try to repair the problem in the pipe, it will temporarily fix the problem. These types of pipes are considered inferior material and need to be changed.
20 – 60 Years for PVC
If there is a problem with your PVC pipe, the problem is fixed with a spot repair instead of a full replacement. You may need a full replacement if the PVC pipe is bellied or is not to grade.
LC Builders Methods to Solving Your Problem
Trench Method
A backhoe is used to cut the dirt and make a trench to gain access to the sewer line. This is the method that is usually done to repair sewer lines.
Pipe Bursting (Trenchless Method)
A hydraulic machine is used to pull a whole replacement pipe through your old sewer line where we make small holes in the ground at the start and end of the bad pipe. It is called pipe bursting because this method breaks up the existing bad pipe at the same time of the replacement.
